Mapping the Activities and Operations of AIPMA
As many industry experts know, AIPMA (All India Plastics Manufacturers Association) is the apex organization for the plastic industry in the country, covering plastic manufacturers, plastic raw material suppliers, industry bodies, MSMEs and more. AIPMA has an active part to play in organizing national and global seminars along with meetings, lectures, conferences, meetings between buyers and sellers and training programs on a periodic basis between the industry and Government in tandem with having ample representation in several Union and State Ministries and other Government associations/organizations. Some of the organizations where it holds representation include the Union Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers (Department of Petrochemicals), Policies for Plastics Industry, Ministry of Commerce for budgets and EXIM (free trade agreements), Ministry of Industries for issues faced by the sector and the Ministry of Environment & Forests for all environmental aspects. It also represents the industry at the Directorate of Anti-Dumping pertaining to anti-dumping duty on several items.
Nodal agents of AIPMA have been promoting several global exhibitions and trade delegations for the Indian plastics industry and it has been India’s partner and sole selling principal agent for premier exhibitions of the plastics industry including Arabplast, Dubai, NPE US and Plastpack Africa, South Africa among others. It coordinates with several municipal departments for promoting proper management of plastic waste along with helping in recycling of plastics through solid waste management systems. AIPMA also organizes delegations for K exhibitions at Germany, NPE, USA, Koplas-Korea, Taipeiplast-Taiwan and many others. Trade meetings are also organized between members of the association and delegations from trade bodies, chambers of commerce and several associations of global countries on a frequent basis.
AIPMA is a founder parent for the Plastindia Foundation that was set up in the year 1987 with the aim of joint promotion of the interests of the plastics industry in India at a global level. AIPMA also holds membership of CII and President of AIPMA is a member of the CII National Council. It is a member of CIPET, Indian Plastics Institute, Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Indian Institute of Packaging, The Small-Scale Acrylic Plastic Products Manufacturers’ Association, Indian Merchant’s Chamber, Federation of Associations of Small Industries of India, Daman Industries Association, Bureau of Indian Standards, Federation of Associations of Maharashtra, ASSOCHAM, Indo German Chamber of Commerce, MIDC (Marol Industrial Association, ITPO (Indian Trade Promotion Organization) and FICCI. Plastic News is a monthly magazine released by AIPMA, keeping members updated with the latest developments in the sector not just in India but also worldwide. A news bulletin is also published every fortnight, containing all aspects linked to government notifications, statutory matters and other related details.
